Glass jars have so many uses

I would imagine if I had my act together these glass jars that we are using for drinking glasses would have homemade labels or some such decoration on them. At the very least I would have tried to get the labels off of them. But no, these are some seriously cheap alternatives to drinking out of plastic bottles. My favorite is the Welch's Grape Jelly jar. The peanut butter jars are good too.
It may be a while before we can afford to throw down the cash for some stainless steel BPA free water bottles so until then we're using glass jars around the house. Our glasses were constantly getting knocked over by the cats and by the toddler so for a while we were just refilling plastic bottles. That just sucks though for obvious reasons (the environment & dangerous BPA) so I came up with this cheap solution-glass jars.

Thanks for promoting this great idea, and thanks for the links! I have fond memories of drinking from jelly jars as a kid and making some of them special with suncatcher (transparent, brightly colored) stickers.

I adore glass jars for storing leftover food, and for buying and storing bulk foods--see link behind my name.

We do this too, since we're not very gentle and glass jars are sturdy. Works double duty to store leftovers and can produce. Who doesn't love a hard working jar?

Glass is so much nicer to look at with all the stuff inside. Good idea.

I found your site via WFMW. Your post caught my eye because I just was using canned jars this week. I'm using them to store premixed fabric dye. That way I can paint with them whenever.

Way to be frugal. It's a great way to be!
